Jeremiah 29:7
“Seek the shalom of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its shalom will be your shalom.”
The prophet Jeremiah writes to Jewish people exiled in Babylon, far from their home. They are grappling with their new reality, and some are hoping for a quick return. Jeremiah tells them to settle in, build lives, and importantly, seek the well-being of the very city that holds them captive.
What does it mean to actively work for the well-being of a community whose direction or leadership causes you distress?
