Isaiah 40:27-28
“Why do you say, Jacob, and speak, Israel, 'My way is hidden from Yahweh, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God'? Haven't you known? Haven't you heard? The everlasting God, Yahweh, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn't faint, neither is weary. There is no searching of his understanding.”
This passage comes from the part of the book of Isaiah (chapters 40-55) often called 'Second Isaiah,' written during the Babylonian exile (6th century BCE). It offers comfort and hope to the people of Judah, who are far from home and questioning God's presence and care.
When our circumstances feel overwhelming, how do we hold onto the idea of a God whose power and understanding are beyond our comprehension?
