For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith by it, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

This verse comes from a letter written by Paul to his younger colleague Timothy, advising him on how to lead the church in Ephesus. Paul is warning Timothy about various dangers, including false teachings and unhealthy attitudes towards material things.
