You asked

what does generosity look like when money is tight?

The passage, plainly, with room to sit with it.

Mark 12:43-44

He called his disciples to himself, and said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, this poor widow gave more than all those who are giving into the treasury. For they all gave out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, gave all that she had to live on.”

Jesus is in the Temple in Jerusalem, teaching and observing. He watches wealthy people put large sums into the offering chests, and then sees a poor widow contribute two small copper coins. He uses this moment to teach his disciples about true generosity.

What does this passage reveal about the heart behind generosity, especially when resources are scarce?
