Colossians 1:15-17
“who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him were all things created, in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and for him. He is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
Paul wrote this letter to the church in Colossae, a city in Asia Minor, likely in the mid-first century CE while imprisoned. He was addressing various teachings that seemed to diminish the unique supremacy of Christ, some of which involved special knowledge, angelic beings, or ascetic practices.
