thinking bible.

You asked

how does acknowledging past deliverance shape our present struggles?

The passage, plainly, with room to sit with it.

Exodus 14:13-14

Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will see them no more forever. Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.”

This passage is part of the Exodus narrative. The Israelites, having been freed from slavery in Egypt, find themselves trapped between Pharaoh's pursuing army and the Red Sea. Moses speaks these words to a terrified people, moments before a miraculous deliverance.

What does 'standing still' mean for you when you feel overwhelmed by a present struggle, and how might remembering past deliverances change that posture?
