Romans 5:20
“The law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly;”
Paul, writing to believers in Rome in the mid-1st century CE, is explaining how God's grace through Jesus Christ surpasses the condemnation brought by sin. He is building on his earlier argument that all humanity, Jew and Gentile, is under sin and in need of God's saving act.
