Daniel 3:17-18
“If it is so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.”
This passage comes from the Book of Daniel, written during a time when many Jewish people were exiled in Babylon. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three Jewish men, are responding to King Nebuchadnezzar's demand that they worship a golden idol, a direct defiance of their own God.
