Romans 6:1-2
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how can we live in it any longer?”
Paul is writing to the Christians in Rome, a diverse community of Jewish and Gentile believers, probably around the mid-1st century CE. In the preceding chapters, he has explained that all humanity is under sin, but God's grace, received through faith, makes people right with God. This passage addresses a potential misunderstanding of that radical idea of grace.
