John 13:34
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.”
This passage comes from Jesus' final discourse with his disciples, often called the Last Supper. He is preparing them for his departure and instructing them on how they are to live and be identified in the world after he is gone.
How might understanding different forms of 'love' in the ancient world challenge or deepen our understanding of this command?
